For live sets, Duncan and I both use Macs running Ableton. Ableton is a great program that allows us to remix on the fly and do a myriad of other crazy stuff like launch 7 tracks at once. Being a computer DJ does have its limitations though, and recently I have been yearning for the control and more traditional feel that you can only get from vinyl. A quick search on craigslist yielded some used turntables that were in my price range, and I promptly bought them. The tables are not meant to replace my beloved Powerbook, but rather add another interesting layer to the music and performance of DJing. Right now THEWETBANDITS are a 4-channel mixer away from being able to play live with 2 computers and 2 turntables. Its gonna be the ish…
